SPARTANBURG, SC [September 4, 2012] – This afternoon Sheriff Chuck Wright addressed the media in reference to a drug roundup that concludes an eight month investigation into the illegal sell of prescription drugs in Spartanburg County. Sheriff Wright informed the media gathered that the problem of the illegal selling and abuse of prescription drugs may not be the largest drug problem facing Spartanburg County however, it is still an issue that harms people and ruins lives. An eight month* undercover operation that started in January concluded today with arrest warrants being issued for 41 people on various drug charges. As of 2:00 PM this afternoon 34 people were in custody leaving only 7 people still at large. The type of prescriptions being sold and abused were pain medications such as Lortab, Oxycodone, Xanax and others. Sheriff Wright is confident that the remaining suspects will be taken into custody within the next few days.
