Courthouse & Courtroom Security

Spartanburg County Detention Facility staff provide security for the Spartanburg County Courthouse. Careful screening procedures are utilized to assure the safety of everyone.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE COURTHOUSE. If you have any of these items in your possession, you will not gain entry into the courthouse. No employee will be permitted to hold or safeguard prohibited items listed below:

Handbags/Pocket Books

Book Bags

Bags (of any kind)

Firearms

Razor Blades

Glass (of any kind)

Pepper Spray / Mace

Scissors, Chains (of any kind)

Combustible Liquids

Perfumes

Aerosol Products

Tools (of any kind)

Handcuff Keys

Phones

Chargers / Adapters

Laser Pointers

Metal Utensils

Lighters

Wire (of any kind)

Knives

Sharp Items (if any kind)

Head Phones

Ear Buds

NO CONCEALABLE WEAPONS

ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES (SHOULD BE TURNED OFF)

*Except for law enforcement officers acting in their official capacities and court officials identified pursuant to section 23-31-240 of the South Carolina Code of laws, NO ONE, (including those issued a permit to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to 23-31-215) may enter the courthouse with a firearm of any description. Persons found in violation may be prosecuted pursuant to 23-31-215 and if convicted must be fined not less than $1,000 or imprisoned for no more than one (1) year, or both, at the discretion of the court and/or have permit revoked for (5) years.
