3/19/2014 - Sheriff's Office Citizens Police Academy to begin in June

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking applications for the first class of its Citizen’s Police Academy. This summer the Citizen’s Police Academy will consist of ten sessions offered on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The classes will run from June 5th to August 14th, 2014, and will end with a graduation ceremony. The class will be limited to the first 25 applicants, and applicants must successfully pass a background investigation.

The Citizen’s Police Academy will introduce participants to the various functions of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and will feature instruction by staff from the different units of the Sheriff’s Office. The goal of the Citizen’s Police Academy, in addition to providing an overview of the Sheriff’s Office, is to create meaningful partnerships with the citizens of Spartanburg County and give the Sheriff’s Office the ability to serve our citizens better and more efficiently through the open exchange of knowledge and communication.

The Citizen Police Academy is open to adults, 18 years of age and older, and is provided free of charge.

 WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS CLASS, ALL SLOTS HAVE BEEN FILLED.
