Citizen’s Police Academy to Begin in January
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking applications for the 2019 session of the Citizen’s Police Academy. The Citizen’s Police Academy will consist of 14 sessions offered on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The classes will run from January 24th through May 2nd, 2019, and will end with a graduation ceremony. The class will be limited to the first 25 applicants, and applicants must successfully pass a background investigation.
The Citizen’s Police Academy will introduce participants to the various functions of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and will feature instruction by staff from the different units of the Sheriff’s Office. The goal of the Citizen’s Police Academy, in addition to providing an overview of the Sheriff’s Office, is to create meaningful partnerships with the citizens of Spartanburg County and give the Sheriff’s Office the ability to serve our citizens better and more efficiently through the open exchange of knowledge and communication.
The Citizen Police Academy is open to adults, 18 years of age and older, and is provided free of charge.
