On November 13, 2021 at 11:53 pm, residents of Blanchard Rd called 911 to report a car had just wrecked into a tree. The complainants stated they didn’t find anyone in or near the vehicle. Responding fire department personnel discovered another vehicle, a stolen car, burning on the side of Blanchard Rd. a short distance up the road from the wrecked car. After putting out the fire, the body of Lamar Douglas JONES was found in the back seat of the stolen car and was apparently the victim of a homicide. Investigators determined that both vehicles were involved in this incident. Investigators gathered and reviewed physical evidence. After several interviews, investigators were able to identify Jamarous Deangelo ROGERS as the man who killed Mr. JONES. Investigators, assisted by SLED, were able to locate and arrest ROGERS on November 21, 2021, and he was charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. ROGERS is currently housed in the Spartanburg County Detention Facility without bond. The Sheriff’s Office is aware that ROGERS has a reputation for violence in this community. Investigators are asking anyone with knowledge of this crime or any other crime committed by ROGERS to come forward to investigators. This is still an active investigation. Anyone with information can call 1-888-CRIMESC or call Inv Kevan Kyle at the SCSO at 864-503-4607.
