On 11/02/2014, Pacolet Police responded to 245 Montgomery Ave, Pacolet, SC about a welfare check on a female who had not been heard from. Upon entry into the house a body of a female was found. Pacolet police requested the assistance of Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Investigators and Forensic ‘s. During the investigation Mark Allen Bradberry Sr was identified as a person of interest and a search for his location began. On the morning of 11/03/2014 at approx. 10:00 AM, Mark Allen Bradberry, W/M, 245 Montgomery Ave., Pacolet, SC, 29372, was located asleep in the white Mitsubishi Mirage behind an acquaintance’s residence in the Pauline community of this county. That acquaintance had seen the media coverage from last night; so instead of answering the door when Bradberry knocked, they called 911. Upon arrival of deputies, Bradberry was taken in custody without incident and transported to the Sheriff’s Office. After being interviewed all afternoon and after consultation with the Solicitor’s Office, Bradberry was arrested for the offenses of Murder and Armed Robbery and transported to the detention facility. The victim in the case, Connie Bataille, is Bradberry’s mother. An autopsy was conducted and it was determined that the victim died from blunt force trauma and multiple stab wound.
