The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an on-site inspection Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2015, as part of a program to achieve re-accreditation by verifying it meets professional law enforcement standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session Tuesday, Dec. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The session will be conducted in the Spartanburg County Public Library in the Hoeshst-Celanese Room located at 151 South Church Street in Spartanburg.
Anyone who wishes to make comments, but is not able to attend the public information session, may do so by telephone Monday, Nov. 30, from 1-3 p.m. The number to call is 864-503-4672.
Telephone comments and appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the Sheriff’s Office ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Sheriff’s Office. Accreditation Manager for the Sheriff’s Office is Master Deputy Ron Gahagan, 864- 809-0221.
