04/08/2022 - Four Arrested for Homicide from Quaile Pointe Apartments

This afternoon Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright held a Press Conference to update the public on the latest developments into the shooting incident that took place at the Quail Pointe Apartments on March 13, 2022. Initially deputies had responded to a call for service related to several individuals with firearms that were seen in the parking lot of the apartment complex. While on the way to the apartment complex deputies were advised that several shots had been fired. Upon arrival at the apartments deputies found a large crowd of people and a deceased female in the parking lot. The deceased female was later identified as 21 year old Paris Janai Kennedy. Forensic Investigators located approximately 117 spent shell casings in the parking lot in front of the “A” building and the “H” building. As the investigation into this incident progressed Investigators were able to identify four individuals who were shooters in this incident. These individuals are as follows:

Zechariah James Utecht, 19 years old, Huntress Drive, Greer, SC 29671

Tyrease Sherrod Martinez, 21 years old, Pine Drive, Taylors, SC 29687

Napoleon Demajcea Rhodes, 20 years old, Frances Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29301

Seven Terrell Keenon, 20 years old, Culpepper Woods Drive, Duncan, SC 29334

All four of these individuals have each been charged with one count of Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. All of these individuals are in custody. Mr. Martinez, Mr. Rhodes and Mr. Keenon are currently in the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Mr. Utecht is in custody in Alpina, Michigan where he fled following the shooting. Mr. Utecht is scheduled to have an extradition hearing in Michigan on April 14, 2022.
