This morning about 3:38 AM the Cowpens Police Department Officers requested assistance from The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in serving several arrest warrants on an individual who was at an address inside the Town of Cowpens. During the course of the process to serve these arrest warrants the individual inside the home, Larry Alvin Morris, 44 years old, set the residence on fire while he and the law enforcement officers from the Cowpens Police Department and the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office were still inside. An investigation into this incident was performed by Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit. The results of that investigation were presented to a Magistrate Court judge who issued additional warrants for the arrest of Mr. Morris on one count of Arson 2nd degree and five counts of Attempted Murder. The defendant, Larry Morris, is still receiving medical treatment and has not been booked into the detention facility. Due to the current HIPPA laws there is no current information regarding his medical condition.
