The violent crime investigators with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office have made an arrest in the fatal shooting that occurred on Edgewood Ave. last night. The suspect is Linda J. Huntley, W/F, 1230 Edgewood Ave., Spartanburg, SC, 29301. She was the caller into 911 last night about the incident, and when deputies arrived at the scene, she was on the front porch of the residence with a rifle at her feet. She fired into a vehicle with that rifle multiple times which was occupied by numerous people, including the victim and the victim’s 2 small children. Once Huntley was transported to the office, she confessed to the incident. Since we had received information that 2 other individuals had fled the incident location, it took investigators until this evening to track down both those individuals and assess their involvement in the incident. An investigator discussed the case with the Solicitor’s Office and then a magistrate who approved warrants on Huntley for Murder, 4 counts of Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. A possible motive for this incident appears to be a dispute over a drug transaction.
