The Johnson Family were well known members of the Clifton Community. All three victims lived together at 270 Cedar Street. The couple, Thomas and Mary Johnson, were found murdered along with their son, David, on Saturday, January 9, 1993, inside their home. All three victims had numerous health issues and took medications. Their only living son lived closed by with his wife. They helped with the care of the family because of all the health problems.
This case has been investigated by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office for 29 years. This violent crime is remembered and continues to affect the community of Clifton. With the advancement of DNA technology, we have evidence being examined by SLED that will give us new information. The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the prosecution of the person responsible for this crime.
