File a Complaint

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office will investigate all complaints, including anonymous complaints, of alleged misconduct against the SCSO employees: and, based upon the findings of that investigation, make a fair, prompt, and impartial disposition of all complaints.

Process for Filing a Complaint

Written Directive

-This directive can and will be made available to the public.

-Filing a complaint can be done in-person, phone, mail, online, and/or anonymous.

-Filing a “formal complaint” must be done in person, and be signed.

-All complaints will be forwarded to the Office of Professional Standards, (OPS).

-OPS will assess the complaint and make available to the specific division supervision for investigation.

-Complaint investigations will be completed within 30 days of receiving the complaint, (excluding weekends). If a complaint will take longer than 30 days to complete, the complainant will be notified.

-No findings or conclusions regarding SCSO Employee disciplinary actions will be disclosed to the complainant.

-Any substantiated complaints will be reported to the SC Criminal Justice Academy.
